The nearest railway station is Chittoor. It is well connected to Bangalore, Chennai and Tirupati via Train. There are trains that travel via Katpadi or Tirupati, but do not touch Chittoor. In such cases, Katpadi (just 35km from Chittoor) or Tirupati (70 km from Chittoor), are convenient points to alight. From Katpadi/Tirupati, you can reach Chittoor by train or bus.

Sri Manikanteswara Temple was constructed by Kulatunga Chola King as part of his missio n to construct 101 Siva Temple to get rid with the sin of killing Brahmana. Here the Lord is found along with his consort Maragadambika. The temple of Manikanteshwara is very ancie nt. Archaeologists date this to the times of Rajakulathunga Chola. The temple is famous fo rits architecture. The legend is that he built 108 temples by ordain of Lord Shiva to relieve him from 'Brahma Hathya pathakam' (the sin of killing Lord Brahma).
